Words for a Just Peace

I was able to make it to this calligraphy show at a UCC Church in Asheville, NC. It was put on by the Carolina Lettering Arts Society.
And thank you to the person whose blog I read the info on.

Flowers from friends

On the road, slowly still, to recovery from surgery. Hopefully after several setbacks, things will go better now.

Calligraphy "Perfomance" at the Newberry Library

This was a huge sheet of paper and the artists worked to music, each adding their work with various tools. The artists were, Tim Botts, Julie Wildman, Karen Brooks, Pam Paulsrud, and Anne Binder.

Newberry Calligraphy Exhibit

You can see how diverse the work is in the show. Lettering can be gestural as well as very meticulous. And backgrounds include collage and different types of paint.

New collage

This shows the beginings of the collages. I've been working in pairs with the last two projects. The next photo shows one of them finished.

Mini Garden

Someone in our class brought this mini garden to show. It's so cute with the little wire accessories!
